I'm in sports rehab, as it were, so I didn't run a Thanksgiving 5K this year, but I had watch a huge local one in which some family (and dogs) were running, and the finish line carnage was impressive. So many people way over their limits, pushing too hard for a run for which they were unprepared. I saw at least a half dozen bad muscle pulls in the closing few hundred meters, plus endless people gassed and having to be helped across. I dig the optimism, but ....

@pkedrosky Sorry to hear that, sir. One of my talents it seems is holding down the couch when it's time to recover. So thankful to be injury free in this 2.5 years of running.

Had an awesome turkey trot half, with euphoria after the finish followed by extreme tiredness over the next week, which has me focusing hard on dopamine and my reward system. It's been truly enlightening.

I suppose a 5k would be where you see the most unpreparedness but I haven't been at a big enough event or even spectated one to notice that so thanks for that report. I'll remember that in case I hear anyone considering a race out of nowhere.
