Tumblr to add support for ActivityPub, the social protocol powering Mastodon and other apps techcrunch.com/2022/11/21/tumb

And they mention the word ActivityPub! In the title! In a major article! Not just "Mastodon"!

Wow!

@tchambers Webhooks have a connector on IFTTT so they don’t need to wait for a Mastodon integration to show up ifttt.com/maker_webhooks

If you're interested in protocols and interoperability that make the fediverse more than Mastodon and ActivityPub, SocialHub is where a lot of discussion and coordination have taken place over the years.

The future of SocialHub is however in question.

Up for vote and discussion is whether it should be locked and archived, run as is, or transitioned to a sustainable state of governance.

If this interests you, go now and make your voice heard.

ATTN fedizens,

The #SocialHub is dedicated to providing help to app developers, discuss refinements + additions to #ActivityPub and #ActivityStream open standards, find best-practices to improve #interoperability between apps.

➡️ @activitypub SocialHub dedicates to improving the #Fediverse.

Like all organization in our grassroots environment, people must step up to keep #community vibrant and useful. Fedi health and future is at stake.

A #poll on SocialHub's future..

@weex @chielk We're discussing the possibilities of implementing a plugin to work around the high potential for harm from the new edit-functionality of Mastodon, with the current idea being auto-unboosting every toot on edit with a notification to the booster asking if they want to re-boost the toot.

I saw that forum post by you discussing plugins for Mastodon, whereas all other cases I've seen are Mastodon-plugins for other platforms (e.g. Mastodon-widget/buttons/etc added to WordPress) and that's irrelevant here.
So, do you know anything about this, like... if it would be possible at all?

We made this tool public for anyone to use—just type in a website to reveal its tracking #technology (or technologies) at themarkup.org/blacklight.

Nice level of activity with the Fediverse this morning. FEPs, a new gitea fork called Forgejo, even [a new Ecko issue](github.com/magicstone-dev/ecko) How do you all feel about markdown in more places, like in toots and bios?

@Wolthera Thanks for posting this. FEP activity is picking up, so I encourage people to visit the codeberg project and check out the various drafts. Each should have a discussion topic (soon to be linked within the proposal) that can be located through its [TRACKING] issue.

2900 people have joined the iOS #pixelfedApp beta so far!

It's kinda overwhelming to witness the rapid growth in #pixelfed, thanks to the #twitterMigration

Pixelfed is largely a 1 man team, we don't have the amount of contributors that most other fediverse projects have so there is a lot of pressure and I'm doing my best. ❤️

A new Fediverse Enhancement Proposal (FEP) has been created on Object Integrity Proofs.

This is pretty interesting: socialhub.activitypub.rocks/t/

Basically it's a proposed extension to #activityPub to indicate the original post is not expecting replies, which is very useful from a harassment and spam handling perspective.

Afaik, peertube already implements something like 'commentsEnabled', which does a similar thing.

(I'd boost @weex 's post for this, but it seems he forgot to post this particular proposal)

A new version of Ecko has just been released for YunoHost.

Version 2022.11.15~ynh1 includes a security fix from Mastodon v4.0 plus other automated fixes.

Ecko is available for upgrade in your YunoHost administration console or to install visit install-app.yunohost.org/?app=

Ecko is a community fork of Mastodon which is maintained via the Collective Code Construction Contract (C4).

We also have another new draft Fediverse Enhancement Proposal to share on Group Federation.

As an editor on the Fediverse Enhancement Proposal team I'm pleased to share a new proposal on Per-object Reply Control Policies.

Ecko is a fork of Mastodon with extra features requested by the community.

How does it compare?

Great news, @internetarchive is now the official Internet Archive Mastodon account. Accept no substitutes! We also have @brewsterkahle , the ever-fascinating founder of the place, and more coming soon. Hop on!

Let’s try this again. Where you at #fediverse? Boosts welcome so we can get the best sample size.

Sometimes when I'm scrolling replies like on @neilhimself's birthday post this morning I get this feeling like, "This is good. This is how it should be."

As an early adopter, this feeling is tempting to chase but it's so rare I just have to appreciate it for a moment.

It's a great time to take a snapshot so you can tell your grandkids, "I was there when we made social media our own."
