When I open the Mastodon web UI, the 'post' field is focused.

I use #vimium for keyboard navigation (highly recommend!), but in this case that means I must first leave the field before I can 'navigate' with my keyboard. This would also be affect people who use shortcuts to scroll even without using vimium, I imagine.

Thinking about preparing a contribution to not focus the field by default - after all, you only open the page to post a toot every so often.

Or would that be annoying to some?

@raboof Saw your reply on the issue. If you make that PR against github.com/magicstone-dev/ecko, I'll merge it and it'll go up with the next deployment of c4.social.

@weex thanks, added github.com/magicstone-dev/ecko ! Curious about any feedback.

C4 is an amazing thought-provoking idea and definitely an inspiration even if I don't go "all the way" in many projects yet. I remember seeing a great talk about it from Hintjens at some point but I don't remember the details and haven't been able to find a recording - perhaps there wasn't one :(

@raboof Merged and it's up at c4.social. Feel free to create a throwaway to test.

@weex thanks so much! It seems to be doing what I expected so far :D

@raboof Thank you! Space bar is now going to be part of my visits. Don't want to jinx it but it'll be interesting to see how long it takes for someone to complain that they have to click on the compose box.

@weex I'm curious if you have (or heard) any feedback on the change?

@raboof Nope, and Ecko is installed on 17 instances so far!
